Southern Festival of Books

the Hatch Print, a Nashvillian event staple

The Southern Festival of Books is apparently something that happens in downtown Nashville every year.  How in the world I’ve been living here for nearly three and never knew about it is quite baffling.  Needless to say, I planned for at least 6 hours of my weekend to be spend in its vicinity.  I spent way too much money, but I had a fabulous time, and got a bunch of great new books at really good prices.  Probably the novel I’m most excited about is Alice I Have Been, by Melanie Benjamin.  The copy I bought was autographed.  Others I picked up include E.L. Doctorow’s World Fair; The New Yorker‘s Secret Ingredients; The Whiskey Rebels, by David Liss; Pope Joan, by Donna Woolfolk Cross; and a few others.  I had the good company of my photographer/designer friend Candie Walter as well.  I handed her my camera when we got there, and the following are the results.

I'm totally where's Waldo in this one
